Early weight bearing after Achilles rupture.

im intrigued to note how different my experience of treatment for achilles rupture seems to be from others, especially with regard to weight bearing. The hospital employs the non surgical route as a matter of policy. After 4 days in a plaster splint I was fitted with a Vacopod boot. The advice was that I put weight on the boot so long as it didnt cause pain. I have ditched the crutches and all the discomfort and inconvenience that accompanied them. One week after the injury I can move about, albeit slowly and gingerly, using a stick as a stability precaution. An 'Evenup' sole fixed to my good foot lessens hip and muscle discomfort caused by uneven gait.
