I think you will get better advice from a ear specialist. I too have similar issues.
Ear drops help and sometimes surgery can help. Best to have your middle ear checked by a specialist and get two opinions if possible.
Hopexxx

Hi Jenny, decongestants, antihistamines and steroids are often used to help improve inflammation in the ear, nose and sinuses. When your eustachian tubes are normal, these medications will make your PET worse but when you have ETD, it will improve those symptoms. Just stop using them the minute your ears start to clear. Don't wait until they are completely clear. Hormones during pregnancy can cause PET. Did you have the PET symptoms before you were pregnant? If you have an audiologist close by, it may be worth asking for tympanograms to find out what your middle ear system is doing. Don't panic. Neither of these conditions are permanent. Both can be treated - PET with insertion of a catheter or grommet and ETD with eustachian tube balloon dilation. xx

Don't pop your ears: do NOT USE the Valsalva procedure (hold nose and blow). The reason: you have bacteria and virus in your mucous and there is a good chance that using that maneuver will force this fluid into your middle ear and give you an infection. It is not unusual to have clogged ears with a bad cold. If urgent care said you have no fluid behind your eardrums, this is a normal response to an upper respiratory infection. Use steam (see Dr. Google) a couple of times a day to relieve the congestion. When the mucous begins to drain through your nose, blow each side independently VERY GENTLY until mucous is gone. If in 48 hours this has not improved your congested ears, call your ear specialist.
