Earwax covering eardrum, what is causing this?

Posted , 1 user is following.

For the past 6-8 months (not sure exactly when it started) my eardrum has been covered in wax and it affects my hearing if I don't clear it. When I remove it with soluble solution (it takes a number of times to clear it each time) my hearing becomes clear again but it starts to build up again by the next day. I don't use ear buds and there's no wax in the rest of the ear canal, and my other ear is completely clear. What is causing this and how can I stop it?

I've attached images, both are of the same drum and it has been cleaned completely between the images being taken. It gets much thinker on the ear drum if I leave it but I don't have images of that.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Jon
