Ebv

So I hope this is the right place for this I just want some advice opinions and other people's experiences with ebv.
I went to the hospital due to extreme upper right quadrant pain, vomiting, dizziness and a bit of a temperature.
My liver function tests came back extremely high and I was admitted for a few days. Liver function improved I was let out. A week later same thing.
Went back to the hospital and was told I have ebv but my symptoms don't match.
Has anyone had anything similar to this. The dr at the hospital basically said it's ebv it's nasty but it will go... but I don't have any signs of sore throat swollen glands anything that would make me think it's ebv.
Left night was terrible as well walking up sweating and on pain.
I was also 11.6 and I'm now 10.2 in weight. It's scary cause I just can't eat as it comes back up but he just seems to think it's ebv..
Any experiences would be appreciated

yes, you are in the right place for some mono/glandular fever support. Many of us have experienced the same symptoms and frustration you have. My liver pain and complications have not been as severe as you are describing. You have my sympathy. I have been at home resting for 5 months with EBV. At first the elevated liver function caused me daily pain and nausea. The last month has shown improvement and according to my doctor my liver function is back to normal. However, if I am up too much (like fixing dinner or going to the store with my husband) the pain in my upper right quadrant and nausea returns.
i only had swollen gland for a short time and never had a fever. That is the weird thing with the EBV it seems to be different for each person. Poor sleep, night sweats, emotional distress, and fatigue can get the best of us all.
Try to relaxe and rest. It will take time but you will get over the virus!

Gerbear covered it all but i just want to add some extra reassurance that those symptoms are typical for ebv even though they're not widely known to be symptoms. I never had the typical sore throat or giant lymph nodes. My main symptoms have been fatigue, malaise, weakness, brain fog, dizzyness and now anxiety and depression which often goes hand in hand with long viral illness.
I hope you feel better soon! I'm here to chat if you need support.

5 months. Can it really last that long I can't cope.
Yesterday I was taken to the a&e department again I haven't eaten in 2 weeks I passed out and hit my head. The pain around my liver was horrendous I was screaming.
They gave me an antisick tablet and told me to go home. I can hardly walk.
Can you guys eat? Cause i feel so full all the time even though I haven't eaten.
I'm trying my best but when i do it comes back up.

Yesterday I ate a yogurt and that came straight back up. I just don't know what to do everything I eat comes back up. Trying the water in small amounts and regular. That's ok.
Just in so much pain and drs don't want to help. I've never felt so poorly in my life.

At first I only ate the BRAT diet (banana, rice, applesauce, tea or toast). Everything very bland--no dairy or oils or butter or spices. That helped me. I continue to use weak, caffeine free, tea when I am nauseated.
i also have anti-nausea pills from my doctor that has helped me.
I can relate to your feeling that the doctors don't want to help. I tried to find a specialist who could help me, but was told by many specialists that they do not take mono patients because there is nothing they can do for those patients. So I am still with my family doctor--general practicitioner. At first my doctor made sure I did not have any serious side effects. He did blood labs and a liver scan. He has been sympathetic but now told me he does not need to see me for 2 months unless my symptoms change.
It is a very frustrating and lonely feeling to be told to go home and rest, with no time line for recovery. However, I can see improvement week by week. I am 61 years old--it seems to take us older people longer to recover. I am not as sick as I was at first. Now I am in the recovery stage, where I can be up doing a few household chores everyday. The highlight of my day is taking care of my German Shepard and 6 chickens.
I hope you will relaxe and rest. I know it is hard to accept this new reality of having this virus. Please know that you will get over this and feel normal again! I am looking forward to camping and fishing again!
