Echo results...

Hi All,

I was diagnosed with Mitral Valve Prolapse two weeks ago after going to a cardiologist (at my request) for dizziness, fatigue, anxiety, and all kinds of other symptoms. While I think the anxiety is the primary cause of my symptoms, I wanted to be checked out just to be on the safe side.

My cardiologist seemed not worried about the Mitral Valve Prolapse and said it’s very common and won’t affect my life expectancy or quality of life. They did another EKG in office that was normal. He said he was going to send me for an echo just to make sure everything else was okay, no congenital heart disease, etc.

I had my echo today and it took about 30-45 minutes. They said I should have the results within 3 days but most likely I will get them in the next 24 hours. I’m so nervous I could puke. I’m at work trying now to focus but I can’t seem to calm down. I need to better handle my stress!

Please, I need some support and positive stories!

Thanks you!

    sarah,

I have slight Mitral Valve Prolapse and suffer from anxiety as well. It is nothing to be concerned about. You will live a long, happy life as this will not harm you.

The echo is just for assurance purposes and the results will come back fine. I know it's difficult, but try not to worry as I'm sure everything is going to be okay.

Thank you. No, it was definitely an echo. I don’t see how an echo can only take 5 minutes? There are a lot of measurements they need to take. The ultrasound technician said she likes to be very thorough so they don’t have to repeat it. I hope I hear something today. I can’t concentrate at work.

I am happy to say my echo came back completely normal! It was a stress echo. I was mostly lying down. Took 30-45 minutes. I feel so relieved and can finally enjoy my weekend!
