Ectopic heart beat worrys
Posted , 5 users are following.
I have posted before but just need a little more help, so I am waiting for a 24 tape to be fitted but both my visits to A and E I have been told it's ectopic heart beats.
My only concern is. I am on prolanolol. And it doesn't help. Some people say it helps but mine have been worse since I took it. Also
When I am relaxed. Either at home chilling out or just with people I feel safe with I am fine. I don't have any. Then when I go to a shop. Go to work or do anything out of my "comfort zone" BAM they come back with a vengeance. Is this my anxiety tags making me think "right I am going to the shop they are going to start" so they do.
I don't know how to get it out of my mind I feel like I'm about to keel over and die

Dear lee
Sorry to hear about your ectopics and your concerns over them.
I too feel that when I ask my heart to do a little work it makes my condition worse. Not always at the time when its beating faster but when its coming back to rest.
I have been prescibed propananol to take when I feel they are particularly bad but they are a beta blocker and whilst controlling the rhythm they sliw my heart alot which isn't very fast at the best of times so I try and steer clear if I can but maybe they could help you at times of anxiety.
The condition can be a bit frightening but there are people on this site who have had something for years. I know it doesn't make your condition any easier but maybe it will help you feel its not imminently life threatening.
Good luck with your 24 hr. tape

Thanks gap
I was prescribed with prolanolol 40mg 1 pill per day for my anxiety before I got theses ectopics. I remember every now and again I used to get the feeling but I thought it was just my wanting more air so I took a deep breath. Now I am aware of them all of the time.
It feels like prolanolol is fine for slowing my heart but it's trying to catch up

Thanks rob. I'll definitely try the magnesium. What are the flec for? Do they control your heart beat too for anxiety?

i suffer really bad from anxiety too, i swim 5 days a week which really helps.
im also on a very low dose of meds for it, 5 mgs a day.
i really think anxiety and adrenaline play a big part in inducing them, silly things can start mine off , riding my motorbike for instance, would you believe is one of them ? its very strange.
ive had them for about 15 years now.
Flec is for rythm, although it helps somewhat im loathed to take a higher dose ive only been on them since last summer, but like i say ive recently tried the magnesium and they have really dropped off now, i was getting 2000 plus a day, now i only get the odd bump, fingers crossed it will work indefinately as these things are a real joy killer, and stress me out even more.
Try the mag citrate mate, you never know, check out YORK CARDIOLOGY on youtube too, his videos are very imformative and should put your mind at rest.

Yeah I've been watching a couple of his videos. He mentions a different magnesium, beginning with a P. Is that the same?
Mine come on in weird situations. I was making dinner last night and boom they came on. I went to the shop alone and boom they come on. If I go with someone. I am usually ok,
Can't believe how much this is getting me down

Hi there. I just wanted to let you know that Magnesium is important. Keep taking it as it can take a while to do it's thing. Dr Gupta from York Cardiology is such an amazing cardiologist. We are lucky to have him caring! I emailed him as I couldn't get the Magnesium here in Australia that he mentioned. He said the one I have is perfectly good. It's 'Pharma Mag Forte' by BioCeuticals.
All the best.

I've been and bought some magnesium citrate 100mg that I have to take 3 times a day. But my multivitamins already have 100mg in them. Am I doing the right thing?
