Ectopic heart beats linked to indigestion.

I am a 63 year old woman with what has now become a chronic ectopic heart problem. Like other members, I have a lot of wind and the ectopia is always eased by bringing up a good burp. Baking soda in water has the best effect.  I would like to concentrate on diet changes to minimise the problem. I have discovered that being constipated is a trigger, as is strong coffee and acidic wine, yeasty bread, and fatty food. Suggestions I have read on this forum such as taking magnesuim and iron are worth a try. A bad day is exhausting and stressful, and sleep can be difficult. It is good to read others experiences, keep them coming.

Hi - I am a 47 year old female and I too have had ectopic beats all my life, odd ones daily, especially during exercise. Over the past 3 years they have been at times, constant. They last for a couple of weeks and subside again. I have just started taking iron tablets which are giving me indigestion and the ectopics have returned, in full swing. Around 8 or 9 per minute. I have had them all night with little sleep.

I strongly believe they are linked to indigestion and I have noticed dehydration triggers them too. Magnesium can help a bit, laying down makes them worse. I am waiting for next visit to cardiologist but told last time they are normal. Sods law is that I am not having an episode when I get to see them, I have been waiting 3 months for echo results. They really are awful and ruin your life when they start.

GP has done bloods specialist to heart as i also have mild swelling in my legs after sitting. He believes everything is fine with my heart and I have anxiety. I have anxiety because of ectopic beats and swollen legs! If only GP's knew how this feels, I think they would change their stance on it being normal.

It is reassuring to hear shared experiences and that I am not alone with this.

Hi I am 33 year old and having the same problem but i couldn't still decide whether its because of GERD or anxiety. I am taking LANSOPRAZOLE before food in the morning and i feel when i took that i feel better. I went to a&e twice thought its a heart attack, last time they diagnosed its ectopic beats(artial fibralation) and maybe its because of anxiety and they referred me to GP for a counselling. I am waiting for my counselling now. I am still confused. i dont have thyroid, anemia or magnesium deficiency. I am doing meditation with deep frequency sounds for 15 mins atleast and breathing excersise(pranayama). This ectobic beats relax when i burp. I am noting down all the food I am eating a day and ruling out the trigerrs. I am waiting for my 24 hour heart monitor to be fixed. I will update if there is any update

    Hi,

I also have been ectopic or skipped beats for a few weeks and throughout the day. Dr. says they are caused from anxiety (I'm not sure about that). Had ecg and stress test last week. Ecg and stress test showed skipped beats but Dr. says to exercise 30 minutes a day. Wtg for results of holter monitor and thyroid blood tests. Have you ever taken Klonopin for your skipped beats. That sometimes helps me but am afraid of becoming dependant on it. So, don't know what to do and am scared all the time. Believe me, you are not alone in this.

Good Evening everyone, so glad I stumbled on this forum, its so reassuring reading other peoples experience with ectopics. I'm 46 years old diagnosed with eptopics last year after going through a very stressful time. I had a 72hr tape, treadmill & scan I was told they are benign. they come & go, can go days and weeks without them but last weeks been quite bad. I don't drink alcohol or caffeine. don't smoke. Seems like my magnesium helps, can anyone recommend which type to take? I also think they are linked to gas, after I belch they ease.

My doctor gave me Bisoprolol 1.25mg. I only take when they get bad but not sure they do anything. I'd be very gratefulfor any further advice.
