Ectopic / skipped heartbeats and general hell

Posted , 5 users are following.

Six weeks ago I developed ectopic heart beats (PVCs to be precise) - they are present 24/7 and making me feel awful. I would be interested to hear from anyone else who had this kind of thing develop during peri. I am seeing a cardiologist but it seems there is nothing serious and I am convinced my hormones have a role.

I also have a massive list of other symptoms. I am new here, and it's such a relief to find that the bizarre list of hideous weird symptoms is not you going mad. The most debilitating for me are constant GI issues incl reflux, nausea and abdominal pain (had that all checked out last year - "nothing wrong" with me); terrible insomnia, crushing fatigue and low motivation; internal buzzing and Vibrations, pins and needles; permanently cold and shivery. My hands are like ice blocks.

Also Menstrual cycle has totally changed and is much shorter. Everything aches. Spots. Dry skin and scalp. Headaches. Itching. Muscle twitches. Brain fog and poor concentration. Feel like I permanently have a cold. Tinnitus. I don't even know what libido is any more 🤣

I have had a billion blood tests by the way and I am totally healthy... Apparently, as in common with many of you I feel like I am dying.

I just had final round of heart tests for now. Stress Echocardiogram. No evidence of any heart damage or coronary artery disease. Ectopics go away when I exercise... So I guess I cling to the fact that there is "nothing wrong"! I wish you luck too ❤️

Mine started about 3 months ago. Sometimes they are bad, like a skipped beat every two beats. Sometimes they aren't that bad. I've kinda gotten used to them, so now I don't let then scare me, because that causes more. I've also noticed they are worse when I have an active stomach, aka gas.I take papaya enzymes after I eat and they help digest my food and lessen indigestion. Hang in there. This is a storm, and every storm passes. 🙂

Sounds very similar to my situation. I know they are there all the time but they bother me more when my digestion is playing up. To be honest I struggle to separate symptoms. When you go to GP with heart problems they ask if you have chest pain and I am like "well, my breasts hurt all the time and my rib cage aches too"... Thanks for the solidarity! Also good to know that I might get used to it because it's making me feel quite breathless and anxious even though I have had all the ecgs and just had a stress Echocardiogram and have been told my heart is healthy. It really has an impact on my ability to drop off, which is a bummer when you already have insomnia!

My advice to all of is going through this, is to take a deep breath and try to relax. I haven't been to the Dr. in 2 yrs, even though I have all these weird symptoms, I know they have to be hormone related. I refuse to live my life at Dr. offices. I did that for 2 yrs with my daughter, when she was 2 and had cancer. They were really no help then, and they aren't any help now. I went to my Gyn 2 yrs ago, hoping she would tell me all my anxiety and feeling crazy was hormonal. She said I was too young for that. I was 42, geez. Didn't make me feel any better. So now I have vowed to only go, if I truly think I'm dying. The best thing to do is eat healthy most of the time. Get some exercise if possible and live life. I tell my kids and my husband, you only get one life, live it.

      God Bless us all 🙂

Yes I think being somewhere like this knowing that there are so many others suffering the same horrors is quite helpful. I have basically had my entire body checked out over the course of the last 9 months and I know now there is nothing seriously wrong so I better try to get on with it. I am glad I have been to my GP though. They have been very thorough and not fobbed me off, but done the tests to ensure I don't have anything serious. I live in Australia but am British. The healthcare here is confusing but I am impressed with the preventative approach they seem to take. My GP is actually willing to talk about menopause as well, so I am hopeful I will be supported.

I am very sorry to hear about your daughter.

Thank you, but she is our miracle. She turned 14 in April. The Dr's gave us 0% chance of survival.I think God had other plans. Maybe that is why I try not to worry too much. If she got through that,I can get through menopause. But I will admit the palpitations got to me at first, more of an annoyance. Mine also go away with exercise. Probably because I'm focused on the workout and not the palps. I'm in the USA and the healthcare isn't much better, just extremely expensive.

Make sure to take time for you.

I have to believe this will all get better.

      Hi,

Thank you so much for your post. I've been dealing with a lot of panic and anxiety from weird peri symptoms, and I'm afraid the extra stress/panic is causing more issues becausse I can't relax. Besides taking deep breaths, can you recommend anything that helps you relax when you're going through scary/terrifying symptoms? I keep telling myself to breathe and relax but sometimes it doesn't work. 😦

I'm sorry I just saw this post. I think a lot has to do with attitude. I try to remind myself this is hormonal and it will pass. I try and be mindful that I have a lovely family and life and I should enjoy everyday God has given me. I try and turn negative thoughts into positive thoughts. It takes time, but it does help. I workout 4 to 5 times a week and that helps too. You are right anxiety makes everything worse.I still have missed beats, but now they no longer scare me, and I went from having thousands a day to maybe 10 to 20 and some days none. You have to train yourself to work along side anxiety and not fight it. If you do this in time your brain won't think it's important and the anxiety will lessen or stop. Just remember it takes time. 🙂

Are you suffering from skipped beat weirdness? It's really horrible. I have had myself thoroughly checked out and told there is nothing seriously wrong with me. That has helped a lot. I still have them ALL the time, except when my heart rate is raised. So although I am often exhausted I try to get plenty of exercise to give my brain a break from worrying about them. Distracting myself a lot helps too. I listen to audio books on my headphones while doing chores and sewing, painting or cooking. Brain over-stimulation so I don't notice.

hi I have the exact same symptoms as you. Gas, bloating, acid reflux I had an endoscopy it just showed mild gastritis.

had bowel cancer test all clear, breast lumps checked. I get headaches, heavy periods had polys removed last week.

But my lower righthand side still hurts? My DR thought it was ovarian cancer buy it wasn't!

I was constipated but since taking a detox supplement I'm regular for now.

I'm worried about my pain on right handside. Going to ask for colonscopy as my ultrasound sound was clear apart from polyp in my gallbladder which haven't changed in the last 3 years.

Do you get pain on your right handside?

Hiya, my pain can be anywhere but more normally on the left. I had an ovarian cyst two years ago and last Sep went back to Dr believing it was another. But nothing there. Then the bloating gas indigestion nausea reflux etc really ramped up. Had all the blood tests, h pylori, ovarian cancer, coeliac, full body ultrasound, gastroscopy, endoscopy and found only a hiatus hernia. That all then cleared off for a while leaving just dull abdominal ache from time to time. Now it's gone nuts again, coinciding with this heart problem.

ah bless you. I had so many h Polyri tests done got so fed up!

I'm not taking antiacids as they make me feel worse. thank goodness I found a probiotic that settles my heartburn. I was going through so many gaviscon bottles.

My gynecologist said that's your colon nothing to do with your ovaries. I went through he'll and back this month!

My Dr did a CA125 test whilst on my period! I'm so heavy and it showed up ovarian cancer! you can only imagine being fast tracked and the to find the DR made an error in my doing my test! anyway they removed a small polyp which was painful not doing that again!

But after all that my original problem hasn't been resolved! aggghg

I'm getting my nausea again morning sickness feeling! I'm so exhausted of how I feel!
