ED after prostetectomy

It's been four months since a radical prostetectomy.  Bladder control is finally doing well; not perfect, but not a big issue anymore.  Does ED get less with time, too?

It's been 3 months for me so I'm a little behind you and like you bladder control has been ok (since about 5 weeks post op). I managed part-erections even at 10 days post op (when the catheter was removed) which improved a little on cialis 5mg once/day but not since then (unless I take a 20mg dose and then I can manage penetration). In some ways I feel I am going backwards and certainly not forwards! I have just been to a urology clinic to arrange a vacuum pump which theoretically causes a degree of angiogenesis in the penis and gives a longer term more stable erection after using it for a month or two. Crossing my fingers. I'm looking forward to other people's experience on this!

    Good luck.

I'm about 17 months after removal of prostate (open, not robotic). I was lucky with incontinence and had none, but ED is still an issue.

I'm 67 years old and had ED issues creeping into my life before PC. Viagra and other drugshelped only a little.

After surgery it has been very slowly improving. Only once had an erections hard enough for penetration.

I do wake up at times at night with an election. Nothing like before surgery, but an election nonetheless.

After a recent appointment with my surgeonand talking about my ED issues I may try Stenda, a new ED drug on the market.

He also said a fellow doctor who had his prostate removed swore by the vacuum pump and felt all PC men with ED problems should try one.

Initially, I felt that I would never resort to a pump, but now I am giving it some thought and consideration.

The think that with the pump I may be able with the help of the mechanical advantage of the vacuum I may be able to get an erection of better quality than one aided by drugs.

Still not sure though. The idea of using a pump certainly is a turnoff, but.....

Good luck. If you have success by one means or another please post.

An erection, not an election! Still having nightmares about Trump....

      Lol!

My understanding is that whilst there is not good autopy-backed work (!) the pump is supposed over a period to increase the blood supply significantly. I have been told to get 10 erections/day with it daily over a 1 month period and then to reduce it to 3 days/week (10 erections/day).

As yet I have no experience - currently waiting for it smile

    dbcriss,

i am 6 months post op and still no sign of life in my penis.

After 2 months started Cialis 10 mg daily with once a week full dose.

At 4 months started VED pump with no success. It deflates to soft faster than BMW from 0-60. I lost 2+ inches of length and rest disappeared in my body so it looks like I have a second navel down there. Have to sit to urinate otherwise I will eat my pants.

    Terribly disappointed.

Have you discussed using Alprostadil yet? (it can be used as a urethra suppository or as an injection)

Have you been prescribed Cialis 5mg a day? This is a standard post op dose, regardless of whether you engage in sex.
