effects of Effexor

Posted , 5 users are following.

I started taking Effexor 2 months ago and overall feel better mood. I do however feel ongoing anger and moments of emotional breakdowns. This week alone, I have had several hours of crying at work and at home, and it is affecting my relationship with my fiance. Also, I am extremely tired and wondering if anyone has felt this while taking Effexor?

Hi Sar. Glad that you wrote in. So you're saying the med has helped the mood but you're still having anger attacks and crying episodes. Can you give us some back ground so we have a better idea just what you're comfortable with. Diane

Hi Sar - I was on Effexor Venlafaxine @ 80 mg's in 2007. Multiple issues with it - I was all over the place. I had heard reports that several suicides had resulted from it. I ditched the drug and had a terrible time coming off it.

Don't despair - there are many anti depressant drugs available. What works for one won't work for another. See your doc and talk about changing those medications for another.

    Hi Sar

It’s been 7 years since I got off Effexor. I was on it for not 6 or do months!

Is this the first medication you have tried? Perhaps  Effexor isn’t for you. It’s quite normal to try a few meds before you find the right one!

For me personally I felt the same when I was on it. I suffer from depression hence why I was on it however started suffering from anxiety. I persisted though with the advice for my dr. I wish I had gone with my gut feeling as to be honest coming off the Effexor was hell for me.

We are all different and I know for some Effexor does them wonders. Listen to your gut and go and speak to your GP soon if you’re still feeling rotten. Take care!

    Hi sar

I’ve been on venlefaxine (Effexor) for over 6 years. I’m on 225mg.

There are a lot of side effects with this drug, I felt I slowed down a lot after first taking it and put on some weight but it did help my mood so I stuck with it.

It might not be the right anti depressant for you... although you say mood has improved so might just be things settling down and you getting used to it.

Make sure you take it at the same time everyday. It Can be unpleasant if you forget or miss a dose. And I have to let you know from experience this is a difficult anti d to come off of.

If you feel that the anger/ breakdowns etc are not subsiding I would go back to your doctor and consider either tweaking dose or changing drug.

I wish you all the best. Take care
