Effects of ramapril

Husband had angina/heart attack on holiday last year. Since then taking 6 different tablets. Previously a fit and active 55 year old. Had been coping well with taking this medication without too many side effects. At a recent review by cardiologist he has now been put on ramapril.Started 2.5mg and then increased to 5mg once a day on 20th June because blood pressure and heart rate increasing. Blood pressure now settled to same level as before ramipril, heart rate however has dropped even further and today only 46. He also has headaches, dizziness and ringing in his ears. I know these are side effects of ramapril but will they settle down if he continues with it or are they likely to continue as long as he takes it?Has anybody experienced similar side effects and did they settle down eventually.

Yes, I have a constant noise in my ears, mainly in the mornings. I did get this same problem many years previously (when I was young and without heart problems) and I've only recently linked this with Rampril.
Originally, the noise did stop just as quickly as it had started.
I also get weakness in my legs, may be due to other drugs though?
I am taking six weeks off the drug, to see if the ringing noise stops. Also the weakness in my legs is getting to be a bigger problem.
My doctor knows about these symptoms and advised me on taking a break for a month or so to find out if it is indeed the drug causing the problem.
I am now 3 days without Rampril without change

Sure I have the cough, and a worsening of the seasonal asthma, but until recently I thought it was worth it.
Two weeks ago I had the dose doubled to 10mg. I woke the next day with cramped legs, severe kidney pains, and heavy sweating. at night the sweating was much worse. I put myself back to 5mg, and the symptoms quickly disappeared. Except the cough has become more troublesome.
The ringing/hissing in the ears is there too. But I have found that it only happens after eating/drinking certain things.
I avoid spices/ artificial colours and flavours/ caffeine drinks, even mint
sweets.
