Effexor XR with Mirtazapine 7mg

Hi,

Has anyone taken both of these together? 

I started this week switching from Effexor IR 150mg daily to 75mg plus 7.5mg of Mirtazapine but feel horrendous. Can’t wake up, dizzy and flu like symptoms. 

Has anyone else had similar issues?

Not sure if I have a virus or it’s the side effects of the combination of tablets

    I take 150 XR of ven and 41.25 of mirt ( currently tapering down on liquid ). It is not the combination of drugs. You are in ven withdrawals you cannot just drop from 150 to 75 without getting bad withdrawals. As usual doctors have no idea what they are doing.

    Can i ask how long were you on 150 of ven and why did the doc make this change ?

      Hi Sarah, 

      Is was on 75mg IR until August last year when the doctors increased to 150 mg due to a relapse with my anxiety/ panic attacks.

      I was on 150xr for years but for some reason this was changed to IR so having looked into this I was told to go back to ER this week and 75mg was the same as 75mg twice a day and added Mirtazapine but now feeling awful on them

      I know IR and XR are different but it is incas simple as just switching them around like that. I would still say you are in ven withdrawals. I would try to get back on the 150 XR.

      From what i know you have to take more IR than XR. Really don t know why they mess with peoples meds like this.

    I have taken 300 mg venlafaxine and 15 mg mirtazapine since July 2015 and the combination works great for me. Sarah may be right about the venlafaxine withdrawal as your dosage was cut in half with no tapering. These meds usually take a few weeks to reach their full therapeutic effect so that may also be a factor. You should see your doctor and discuss your reactions to the change of meds. Good luck.

      I’ve been in effexor for years ~190 mg... stopped working so psyche added 7.5 mg remeron... I’m not eating more (4days in to this) but think I might have some fluid retention. Any thoughts on this?

    Hi I was mitrazapen for a little while to help me sleep they knocked me out,  I was dizzy in the mornings then I put on loads of weight cause it started to wake me up at night with cravings so I stopped them and was fine
