ejaculation problems on sertraline

Hi all,

I'm Matt a 40 year old male....

I've been taking sertraline for around 3 months now and i'm currently taking 200mg per day...

The two main issues are that sweat so bad its embarrassing !!!!

Also i have terrible difficulty ejaculating ...... at first this wasn't to bad of a side affect but after a few weeks and still very little joy its becoming increasingly frustrating!!!!!!

Has anyone else had these issues ? and how long did it take to return to normal ?

    HI matt

    i have been reading across the web and it does appear to be one possible effect of the medication. cant help im afraid re timeline etc .

    sexual problems for both men and women are rather common side effects. these can be a problem for as long as you are on sertraline. some are lucky and it does improve after a couple of months. Perhaps other medication specifically for this symptom from your doctor might help?

    the sweating i am afraid i dont know about.

    thats more than i take, a fair bit more. the delayed climax is a bonus but it did settle for me- although still a bit longer.

    I had exactly the same things.

    The sweating and night was almost a thick sweat and sheets had to be changed daily, it was disgusting and lasted about 4 months. It's a small price to pay I felt, as I feel more mentally stable on the Sert. I'm also on 200mg and have been for quite some time. It was a horrible sweat but certainly don't stop or change dose without seeing your Doctor, it'll pass.

    I also had delayed ejaculation which wasn't an issue at first but as time went on was quite frustrating, my wife was quite funny about and we had a good laugh about the good side effect!!!! it so be positive and keep that communication going with your partner. My delaying passed after about 5-6 months but like I said, try be positive, mention it and it's affect on you to your Doctor so they are aware anyway, but like I said, be positive and enjoy the ride while it lasts 😉

    I'm glad someone else has had the same side affects and that i passed because i couldn't carry on with these symptoms on a permanent basis!!!

    I do feel mentally fine on them but like many people i felt like crap every time i went up in dosage but that passes....

    The sweating is so annoying and like you say it does lead to bed changes quite often!

    As you say the delayed ejaculation was quite fun at first but i only manage to actually climax once or twice a week and that is only after about 1 1/2 hours, it's starting to play on my partners mind..... she understands it's the meds but still its bothering her!!!

    On the whole i have to say sert has been a positive experience so far.

      i tapered down to 25mg a day which ive stayed at for 2 years- was told anything under 50mg doesnt work but im just fine 😃
