hi everyone I've repeated my Elastase-1 test and its <15 I'm a little worried. at first it was 170, 110, 90 and now its less than 15.
on the lab report it says narrative and on the next line undetected. does anyone know wat this mean? I'm not seeing my consultant again until end of January. i get my results online so just noticed it now.
shld i be worried with such a low result? i really don't want to be calling my doctor again

Based on what I'm reading, that sounds like you have significant pancreatitic insufficiency:
https://academic.oup.com/labmed/article/47/2/140/2937893
"According to the applied cut-off value, values between 100 µg per g and 200 µg per g of feces indicate mild to moderate insufficiency of exocrine pancreatic function, and values between 100 µg per g and 20 µg per g of feces are associated with severely reduced function, whereas values below 20 µg per g of feces are referred to as indicating extremely reduced exocrine pancreatic function."
I believe there are follow up tests that need to run, such as looking directly at your organs. Also, I think the severity needs to be balanced against other blood markers. I would suggest talking to your doctor, and making sure that you are taking your digestive enzymes, like CREON.
Let us know what you find out, and good luck.

thanks for your reply. i have an MRI in 2 weeks so ill wait to get the results of that. the funny thing is I've always had mild symptoms until 4 days after seeing my consultant to which I've been having mild to now moderate symptoms with severe diarrhea and awful stomach cramps.the consultant said they go by the symptoms and not the test which don't make sense to why they do the test if thats the case. I'm just hoping the standard MRI is the right scan to have. im taking CREON 10000 but only with main meals not snacks. its difficult because im always eating. i was just concerned it being non existent that im not digesting anything but ill update once i have my scan.

In my experience, most of the blood tests can be disregarded. CT and MRI will give a much clearer idea of what's going on.
The only thing I know is that you are on a very low dose of CREON. Ask to be upgraded, if possible. And take them with snacks, too. Do your pancreas a favor...
Ask about Bentyl for cramping, while you are at it.
Good luck!
