Elbow pain

My husband started on 20mg in the fall and is on 17 now with dsns method. Last week his elbow "cracked" when he woke up. Now this morning his elbow is really sore. Should we just wait it out or increase a little?

Utaker, if it is not the same symptoms that was diagnosed as PMR I would do a round of NSAIDS first. My PMR pain is pretty consistent even though not always in the same place

Good luck to him. Tell him to try and stay active, positive with a smile. 🙂

Not a good idea to use NSAIDs with pred, they are contra indicative. Perhaps another painkiller though.

Ptolemy, it I hurt myself which is not uncommon and figure my pain is not PMR I take NSAIDS, before increasing my Prednisone, seems to work for me.

I also take NSAIDS with pred, for example when I fractured my elbow. My use is sparing and all my docs are aware. None has cautioned against....?....

If you look at the counter indicative information for pred NSAIDs are on it. If you are on a very low dose of pred you may be OK though.

My GP suggested an NSAID for pain I had from sciatica. When I asked her about the counter indication with pred she admitted she had forgotten and gave me another pain killer.

I take aspirin for headache, not often these days, thankfully. Am very careful not to take it within a few hours either way of my pred, and always with a little food.

I took NSAIDS (Ibuprofen) before PMR Diagnosis and ended up with an ulcer. I take Tylenol if I have a pain not associated with PMR.

What makes you think that more pred is what is needed?

this is the first time that he has had any type of joint pain without all the other joints hurting so we weren’t sure if it was a flare
