Electric pillow raisers

I have been trying without success to hire a Riser recliner from social services due to bad lower back issues but they are too expensive and not many around. However my O T visited today and told me she could probably get me an electric pillow raiser. I was so shocked at the price of them - £350 - and I’m wondering if anyone has tried using one of these when back sleeping. I can’t forbthe life of me ever get comfortable in bed even when propped up. My lower back/buttocks are so painful. But she seemed to think this type of pillow would help. I have said yes to having one but anyone tried them?

I would definitely try it first, can you do this, as they are not cheap. You should be able to get VAT relief which would reduce the cost a bit.

Social Care are providing it. They don’t have the sort of budget for riser recliners, unless your mobility is severely  restricted,  as they’re twice the price of Argos etc.

In that case just go for it. The worst that can happen is that it does not work and you can send it back.

Have you tried looking on eBay for a second hand chair? Mine cost £60 and works fine. I thought I'd resell it after a few months but my wife likes it so I think we are going to keep it.

I just looked on Ebay and there are a few at that sort of price. Just make sure it's a riser-recliner if that is what you want as some just recline.

I will have a look but delivery is often expensive if second hand. Thanks anyway Michael

I've got a trailer and it was only a few miles away so I went and collected it. But you're right transport could cost as much as the chair!

Have you tried to look for a second-hand recliner? - I found one on Kijiji (do you have that in the UK?) the cost around $1300 here in Canada and I found one for $175, It can actually get me to a nearly standing position, very comfortable
