electric shock feel in heel

I had a THR over 3 weeks ago. All is going well except i keep getting a shock like feeling on my heel the same side as mt THR. I had it a few weeks before surgery and was hoping it would go away but it has become worse. I do not feel it anywhere in my leg but just me heel weight baring and non weight baring. My Physio is stumped and has no idea. Anyone else have this issue?

Shari11576, I also had,a THR . I have not had the exact feeling you have described, however, I have had other nerve related symptoms. I am not only a THR but also an RN, and from what I know, there are many layers of muscle that have to be cut along with nerves to perform the procedure. When healing it is normal to experience different sensations as these nerves "come alive" again. Keep your ortho. Informed of anything you may feel as unusual. Hope this helps :-)

Also, I had a groin pain prior to surgery, and was also hopeful that my THR would have taken that pain away as well. Sometimes, the pain we feel in other areas comes from the fact that while we compensated for the pain/bad hip, other areas of our bodies are consequently effected. Some people end up with knee issues, back issues etc., and sometimes those problems already exist but may have worsened due to compensating prior to surgery. If it persists you may visit a podiatrist. I also had heel problems at one time. It could be as simple as a heel spur, or plantar fasciitis

Could it be plantar fasciitis? I have had that problem off and on for years. I wear special orthotic shoes to alleviate the pain. Also normally would do special stretching exercises. However, am 5 weeks post-THR and not cleared yet to do those. Good luck.

Hi Shari. After having both hips done I no longer can walk bare foot on tile. My heels kill me so I got shock absorbing insoles and wear runners and the pain has gotten a lot better. I was also walking on my toes before because that was the only way I could get clearance so I would not trip. My right leg had gotten so badly ceased. Now I have to walk the proper way which is heal down first. It was so hard at first but it is getting better. I can no longer wear cheap shoes with no support either. All my shoes have shock absorbing insoles and the heels, well they are at the back of my closet.
