Elevated IGF1 but no pituitary tumor

Posted , 2 users are following.

I just got my MRI results and there is no abnormalities to my pituitary gland and no tumors. Neurosurgeon said prolactin is from medicine but I have elevated igf1 levels. He said it's only about 10% elevated. What could cause that....

    Hi Heidi

I dont want to be the one to tell you this

But IGF-1 levels are usually caused

By acromegaly but since you say they

Did not find a pituitary tumor , it

    Could possibly be a

    Neuroendocrine tumor

Of the pancreas, lung or brain

    I read that yesterday

But it is not a certainty only a possibility

It is recommended to physicians to look for the

    Tumor outside of the pituitary

    Good luck

Well I got more information today that the neurosurgeon told me wrong on what was elevated. Found out from the nurse that it is the tgfbeta1 and I know nothing about that. Sorry for the mix up
