Elevated liver enzymes?

Hello all,

Haven’t been diagnosed as of yet with any gallbladder problem. Am awaiting an ultrasound at the minute.

All started because I had a couple of episodes of waking at night with an uncomfortable sensation in stomach after eating a fatty meal. Over past few days had pain in middle of stomach especially when taking a deep breath although this has been on and off. Haven’t had it at all in last 24 hours. Had pale stools and doc ordered bloods yesterday. Was called back in today as lived enzyme(s) are raised and she is seeing if she can get me a scan today. Sound familiar at all to anyone? I am really scared.. sad.

Thankyou

My liver enzymes were elevated and I also had an ultrasound - the problem was my gall bladder.  After it was removed, the liver did heal and now my levels are normal.    My gall bladder was fused to my liver (which was why the enzymes were leaking).

I would avoid anything high in fat until you know what the problem is, because if it is your gall bladder, eating foods that are higher in fat will cause pain and discomfort and that normally does occur at night .   Prior to my surgery, I made sure anything I ate had less than 4 grams of fat in it.

Could be and WOW sounds like you have a good doctor. I'm thinking your not from the UK.

No,  I live in the US   I go to a nurse practitioner - they are very good about scheduling tests  (the focus is on preventative care).  If there are problems, they refer to a specialist.

I'm not sure if you have nurse practitioner's in the UK.  They have an RN plus a Masters and can write prescriptions.  They work under an MD.   They do routine blood work and testing every year which is how we found my problem (it showed up in the blood work).   Since I don't drink, I eat healthy and I work out every day, she knew there was something going on and ordered the ultrasound.   The ultrasound showed the gall bladder was full of stones and inflamed.  The next step was the referral to the specialist (normally that takes several months, but I had been seeing a specialist for thyroid issues and that same specialist also handled gastrointestinal problems including gall bladder, so I got in right away).

Yes bad gallbladder. You need it out. If you have digestive problems. Nausea vomitting or any other problems dealing with your digestive system. Had all those once my gallbladder was removed I was 70 percent better. Good. Luck.

    Hi Heather.

Your problem cause is on the gut, rest all you see are symptoms. Do not worry of liver enzymes or ALT raise and stones. Just try to heal your stomach and take simple easy digestable foods.

More with ginger, garlic, turmeric and black pepper. This should solve reduce other issues.
