Elimination diets?

Posted , 3 users are following.

I'm sure I read on here some time back of someone who did an elimination diet that actually helped to rid them of most of their Fibro symptoms.  I know there's no cure, but I'm willing to try anything that might help.  Does anyone know what this eating plan included or eliminated?

Hi becky. Yes, I think, and many with me, that diet plays a central role in fighting fibro. I, personally have eliminated almost all carbohydrates in my diet. I am on so called LCHF diet, which mean Low Carb High Fat. There is a doctor in Sweden who is a one of the major advocates of this diet and she has fibro herseld. She keeps it at bay with this diet. Look, I am not a doctor and I have not officially been diagnosed with fibro yet, even if it it pretty obvious it is. But I think carbs are bad for you regardless what condition you suffering from. I eat now sugars, no white flour, no potatoes, no rice. Actually I am far beyond that, not even brown rice and the only flour I eat are like almond meal, coconut meal and so on. I bake bread of them, too. Fortunately I tolerate eggs, so Im happy with that. I try to avoid dairy, but I tolerate goat cheese, ordinary cheese doesnt work. Butter occasionally is OK and lactose free milk. I get a reaction immediatelly if I eat too much carbs. So everything I buy, I check the labels for carbohydrates and sugars. I am not afraid of fat, becaus if you dont combine carbs and fat, your body doesnt metabolise fat. I try to keep the amount of carbs approximately somewhere under 20 grams per day. Most of the greens are ok, blueberries, raspberries, cherries. Sweet fruit and juices are a no no. Just check the labels if you are not familiar with carb counting. It is  not a cure, as we all know, but it might help to keep it at bay. Worth to try...

Wow!!Contra this sound  exactly like a Paleo lifestyle...no sugar, no processed food, no pasta, rice, bread, all high fat-saturated at that..things we were always told not to eat as they were bad for us..mmm....now look at us.? weight drops of you if your overnight too and goes on you if your underweight...I use almond flour and others too...especially Coconut ..coconut everything...sweet or sour is my way..I must use  about 10 different coconut products, just found coconut vinegar..yay...yes you do have to be careful with some fruits...such high fructose in some....anything vegetable that grows above the ground  is good..eg.lettuce..kale. Spinach, cauliflower, cabbage tec..underground like yams etc...even potatoes-(which are really a nightshade anyway)  is such a no go, their quite starchy carbs...have a lovely day..be blessed .:-) xxx

      Hi Conta

Definitely agree diet plays a major part for all.  I have given so much food up over the years, but I still have the bloated feeling. I will look in to the Paleo diet too. Anything is a try to reduce pains.

      Have a good day x

Thanks all for your input.  I'm definitely going to give this a go.  I'm not too good at restrictive diets but if I do it gradually I should get used to it.  There's so much talk about how bad sugar is now and that's the first thing I've eliminated.  I'll keep going and post back here on the results.
