Employment for individuals who suffer from persistent disequalibrium?

Posted , 6 users are following.

I was diagnosed with Persistent Postural Perceptual Dizziness a couple years ago. I've made some progress at decreasing symptoms, although still experience them daily. Finding jobs I can do without becoming dizzy and disoriented has been a challenge. I also have a tendency to experience episodes of agoraphobia do to having PPPD and co-existing anxiety/panic (which was probably the triggering event that caused PPPD to develop). Any suggestions for low-stress jobs that can be done from home? If you're currently living with disequalibrium, what do you do for work? Are there resources or organizations out there that help folks with dizziness find gainful employment?

Well, far from cured. I'm on a low dose of ZOLOFT, which has helped some, although I still experience daily symptoms. In my case, I believe the PPPD resulted from panic disorder, so I was in therapy for a while and that helped. I also have improved my diet, and exercise daily. Sometimes I do VRT exercises, and I should probably do more, but I just forget to do them. lol. Keep at it! Let's all beat this awful condition so we can move on with our lives!!

      Hi Mattew2,

neurologist put me on candesartan tablet 8mg took them for 3 months didn't help.

different neurologist recommended to stop the candesartan and start on amitriptyline for 6 months.

I haven't started as yet but I will try as many people advised me to try the amitriptyline and see.

I am seeing balance therapy for my PPPD so hopefully will helps my symtoms. at the begging this exercise makes me dizzy and settle after few weeks then felt better, after I went holiday for 3 weeks stopped doing the exercise felt a bit down, now I will see my therapist this friday see what happen.

I am forcing my self to walk and exercise daily to teach my body to normal living life.

let me know about the progress.

we have to keep going until we cured and I am sure there is some light some how.
