Ended up in A & E today

Oh dear what a day I have had. I took the TED stockings off and went to bed without them last night. The pain was so intence I couldn't stand it any more. About 10 mins after taking the stockings off and going to bed the relife was almost imediate. I fell asleep about midnight and woke up in pain again at 6 am. My other 1/2 put the stockings back on for me and I was ok till about 8 am and again intence pain and aching even in my non operated hip. My pain Meds were not even touching it or making it better.

I was really scared. The swelling on my operated side has not gonbe down at all 4 weeks on after the op.  I got other 1/2 to get an ambulance on 999 and went to A & E. Explained what was going on and even had to ask one of the nurses to remove the stockings again as the intence pain was coming back while I was waiting in the cubicle. I phoned my surgeons secretary and lucky my surgeon had a clinic so went straight there. He sent me for a doplar scan DVT check and thank goodness  nothing no clots.. Found out I have a problem wearing the stockings because I am so tall the stockings they have in stock at the hospital do not fit me correctly and that is what is causing the problems. I have to have a different size on my right leg to the left leg. the left leg being the one operated on. I also had a rough ride in the ambulance which has made me sore. The bus ride home was really bad too. I think I will be glad when today is over. My surgeon has changed my appointment from Next thursday to monday and he is going to do x rays. I think I will be asking for a leg / foot pump for the next operation. I can't deal with this again if they can't give me stockings that fit correctly sad

Sorry to hear of your bad experience.  I am so thankful I did not have to wear those stockings.  It looks as though things are much better for you now and hope everything continues to go well for you from now on.
