I’m 45yrs old and suffered with irregular heavy periods for years. I’ve been attending gynae every 4 months for the past 12/14months as I was told I was going through menopause and had months of no periods and when I get my periods they were extremely heavy. Scans and bloods tests all ok.  I’ve had no period for 8 months now but still getting cramps and bloating and the odd spotting and it is literally just a tiny spot! In May this year I had a brownish sometimes red discharge which I put down to a period. I had a gynae appointment on Tuesday past and happened to mention I was getting symptoms of periods, cramps, bloating etc. My consultant decided to do TVS which revealed my womb lining more than 1cm thick so she said she wanted to do a biopsy but when she tried she couldn’t do it. She also mentioned I was ovulating and said “we’ll leave it two weeks until your period over” so I got an appointment for 19th June for a biopsy and she said hopefully she’ll be able to get it then. I was a bit shocked when I heard the word ‘biopsy’ so didn’t ask any questions. I know there’s no point worrying but what are the chances it’s cancer? I’m sorry for waffling on I just need to get it off my chest

      Hi

the waiting and wondering is the worst thing, and whilst I am no expert, if I were you, I really would try and not worry too much.

There are a number of things that could be causing your symptoms. Your lining is not thick; you have had scans and blood tests that were all ok, so maybe benign polyps are the problem.   As you  were ovulating you must be in perimenopause  which can  also be a weird time!

A biopsy will put your mind at rest. Try and think of it as just a diagnostic tool to finding out what is causing your problems.

It is most probably nothing sinister, so i send you my best wishes and fingers crossed for the 19th.  Try not to fret.

I’m more at ease (but still got a niggly feeling something not right) since  I got a period ( first in 8 months) on Wednesday as I’m thinking now the thickening of womb lining is most probably hormonal changes, although my consultant told me when doing the TVS I was ovulating so probably would get a period, but wanted to do biopsy. Roll on Tuesday until I get it done. Thanks again Jenny for your reply I really do appreciate it

Post menopausal, age 59 , I also had no pain and felt well and  very healthy.

My only symptom was noticing a very small amount of blood on toilet tissue after wiping.

Phoned doctor for an appointment  but , without an appointment, or even a call back, was instead referred for a blood test, which I was told was ok.

Three months later, same, small amount of blood on tissue. Urgent referral to hospital and 13 days later ( after trans vaginal scan and hysteroscopy which revealed a  15 mm thick lining and a necrotic polyp that ‘looked nasty’ and biopsy) came the diagnosis.

Mri and chest xray followed, and a month later I underwent a total  hysterectomy. Felt amazingly well immediately afterwards,   but I didn’t feel ill before.

    Currently awaiting more results.

Definitely stay positive and make sure that the doctors care is top and that any information received either from the healthcare professional or from any kind of literature is noted.  Refrain from receiving too much information as it can be overwhelming and emotionally confusing.  Sincerely,  Virginia

Question:  53 year old.  Pre-menopausal still have regular cycles.  But since March I have been have a cycle every two weeks just about.  Should I be concerned?  Dtr. says going thru menopause and these are symptoms?

Hey there cindy68465. My situation is really complicated, but the short version is: period cycle became shorter and flow was totally inconsistent. Some months it would be super light, only last two days, wear pantyliners, other months it was super heavy and just gross. After a year and a half of pelvix pain, could hardly stand and could not wear anything with compression, not even the lap blet to my seat belt in the car, for over a year. I was diagnosed with pelvic floor dysfunction, did physical therapy, put on birth control pills (which have really helped. No more periods, no ovulation, least pain.) Occasionally I will have mid cycle bleeding, which is from fibeoida and a polyp and possible endometriosis. Also, my periods since high school were so heavy! I wore a super tampon and a heavy pad because I would leak. I will be getting a d&c and laprascopy this fall. I have been diagnosed perimenopause. My mood swings were crazy! The birth control really helps! Sorry for the long winded reply, but it has been scary over the past couple of years and now I am finally feeling better. I also found a new gynecologist who was able to help me out so much better.

Be concerned... I would definitely have a specialist take tests be really concerned even if everything comes back clear ask about the endometrial layer thickness and ask for help like a D&C to get it thinned. My cancer started like this now 2011 now in 2018 I found out I have a large uterine cancer mass

Hello ladies, this past tuesday I received bad news from my ultrasound appointment. My endometriosis is really bad! I'm showing signs of cancer. My uterus is 3 times its size and my doctor said that's really not good. My right ovary is 3 times its normal size with a possible tumor sitting on it. My endometrium is 2 times its size with something sitting on my endometrium wall. So I'm having a hysterectomy and another surgery to remove the tumor sitting on my abdomen near my csection scar. He's going to test it all for cancer.

I’m 29 years old and I had mirena iud inserted 4 years ago and it was going so well until last November,2017 when I started having my periods twice a month... it’s not heavy bleeding, I’m just bleeding every other week... actually I felt that I’m bleeding all the time... I waited because I thought it would go away by itself... till last month I went to my dr and he removed the iud as he said it’s not usual to bleed like this with this kind of iud.... and he did an ultrasound and said that my uterus looks irregular and that we should do ultrasound with saline in. 4-6 weeks. He said it might be polyps... my appointment is in August... since I removed my iud... I started bleeding the next day for 5 days then stopped for a week then I started bleeding again for 4 days then it stopped now for 10 days.... anyone had a similar experience?!!!

I had symptoms for three years but was told No one seen anything. I was tested in 2011 and no cancer was found but was told my endometrium was really thick. The specialist didn't recommend me or advise me a thickened endometrial layer could increase my chances for cancer which could have (i now know) been corrected with a D&C. Fainting and dizziness started in 2014. I had surgery for an infected gallbladder in 2016 with a spot on my liver biopsied at the same date 08/2016 the biopsy came back as fatty tissue. All my labs were normal 2 weeks before seeing a specialist for bleeding ..bleeding on and off from 2013 to 2016. Since 2016 I had bleeding and spotting for most of the time.. cramping like menstrual cramps (severe) since July 2018 25 out of 30 days. Bloating since 2017 about December. Back pain 2018 early on about March. Increased dizzy spells and fainting in 2018 with dizziness lasting 3 days at a time. I remained uninformed and Doctors could not connect the dots throughout until my most recent visit 10/2018 when endometrial cancer was found and it is a pretty big mass.. That's all I know at this time
