Hi I was just wondering if anyone has ever had a situation where endometriosis didnt show up on imaging test but was found in the laparoscopy is that possible. I am 22 years old I have been suffering with crippling pain since I was 13 years old debilitating pain in the pelvis back abdomen chest and shoulder as well as coughing up blood pretty much every period i am awaiting on laparoscopy surgery on the waiting list I'm convinced its endometriosis but ultra sound and MRI came back clear. My question is does that mean I dont have it has anyone else had that happen to them where it showed nothing but the surgery did ??

Hi, yes my endomentriosis didnt show up either. it took me 3 years to convince my OB to do exploritory. she cant saying no its not endo. well low and behold, she got in there and i had endo. some of mine is on my bladder and colon so they cannot remove it in those areas. praying you get the answers you deserve and the surgery. i pray you do not have it. my advice would be to always be an advocate for your health. read about medications before you start taking them if they do treat it with medicine, and if you have any major side effects or changes in your mood to speak up about them. good luck! praying everything goes well!

Thank you so much for replying back to me how are things now for you with it? Are things better? Honestly at the point where I hope they find something and I mean that in no way disrespect towards you. It's a helpless feeling not knowing what's wrong with you all of my test come back normal but I'm still plagued with this illness whatever it is it has cost me so much already lost so many things I loved and now I'm at the point where I just push through the pain as much as I can so I really just want to be able to rule something definitely in or out. Seeing what you said that yours didn't show up makes me feel a lot better what stage is yours if you dont mind me asking?

You are absolutely right, it is such a helpless feeling when all the tests come back normal, and you know something is wrong. so proud of you for continueing to speak up and say "no this is not normal". i am not managing with mine very well. i actually just posted a discussion on mine as well. i just found out i have 4 ovarian cysts (2 on each ovary as well) so i am currently trying to get in to see the specialist. crossing my fingers they get back with me today to get me an earlier appointment. i am not scheduled until october but cannot wait that long with this pain. if you ever have any questions, feel free to ask. praying for you!

JessW, i do not understand why you were told that endo on the colon couldn't be removed. They've been taking endo off the colon since at least the late '30s. My ob/gyn took it off mine in '82. When endo returned in '08, my surgeon removed 6-8" of my colon. As to the bladder i must plead ignorance. Others here will know if spots have ever been taken off their bladders.

I'd have another chat about the colon endo.

The ONLY definitive test is the laparoscopy. Docs/consultants/ specialists waste a lot of time and money running tests that are fairly useless regarding endo. I fear, tho, that your case may be like JessW's in that you're going to have to fight for several years to get the lap.

I am very concerned about you coughing blood. If that's a symptom of endo, i've never heard of it. Have they already done an endoscopy & colonoscopy on you about this? Those are the digestives look-sees where they put a camera down your throat and then up your backside.

if you can get in to see someone who specializes in endo, please do so. The not knowing makes the pain worse, IMO.

i hope they figure out what's wrong soon.

    Hi

Yes, it didn't show up on my Ultrasound and MRI but only found during surgery. You think MRI would have picked it up?
