Endometriosis, IBS, IC, and acne

For the past months, I've had a long list of symptoms, and just this past Friday was diagnosed with Endo, IBS, IC, and a mild case of vulvodynia (she suspects from biking). I am undergoing physical therapy for the vulvodynia, have been prescribed a medicine for the IBS, and my doctor also gave me some aloe vera for the IC, but I refuse to go on birth control for the Endo. Has anyone else had acne from it, and what have you done to cure it? Also, any natural cures through diet to reduce endo symptoms around ovulation? My life has been turned upside down these past months. I am willing to follow any diet, no matter how strict. I've noticed gluten makes my face flare up, as well as most other processed foods, so I'm trying to remove both of those and eat a nutrient dense diet. Similar stories?

I may not be of any help but my girlfriend has been suffering from symptoms of IBS and pains in her pelvic area for years on and off. She struggles to see a doctor as she has agoraphobia and hates going out. How did you finally get diagnosed? I managed to get her to a Dr before about it and all they did was an ultrasound which obviously showed nothing. I'm so worried about her, she sleeps all the time too. Sorry this isn't very relevant but she does suffer from acne on her back and she's trying to cut wheat, gluten and dairy milk from her diet.

Hello, I'm sorry to hear about your girlfriend. I was diagnosed with IBS by a gastroenterologist, but that diagnosis wasn't followed by any sort of treatment plan. It wasn't until I went to a gynecologist near me who has seen cases of reccurent pelvic pain, IBS, and IC leave patients in a vicious cycle of doctors visits that I've finally been given a recovery plan. I'm not a doctor, but from personal experience in these past weeks, eating gluten free has helped my skin. I still have gastro complaints, which my gyn has prescribed me a prescription for - it's for IBS-C and D, I can't remember the name as I haven't received it yet but after I begin using it I'll post about it and tell whether or not it has helped. Consider trying to make your girlfriend feel comfortable enough to visit a functional medicine doctor in your area, or possibly a gastroenterologist. I've heard that IBS can be caused by a number of things: low stomach acid (hypochlorhydria), food sensitivities, SIBO. The GI that I saw personally didn't do anything other than give me the diagnosis, but perhaps I was just unlucky with the doctor I received. And, just due to the fact that you said she has persistent pelvic pain, consider a gynecologist, as well. Endometriosis causes a lot of gastroenterological complications, and is often times misdiagnosed. Best of luck to both of you.

Thank you for your advice. I don't know if we can afford to see those kinds of specialist doctors sad

I would be very suspicious of the IBS diagnosis if you have endometriosis. I was told I had IBS at the ER and they put me on Bentyl. I had surgery yesterdy for my endo and it had completely taken over my bowels. My colon was fused to itself in many areas and my colon was also fused to my uterus and rectum. This is what was causing my IBS symptoms. I would push for a laparoscopy.
