Energy Drinks

I just wanted to post this to alert parents about the dangers of energy drinks.
Most are composed of mainly tons of caffeine and sugar. Kids are drinking them by the six packs some days..and sometimes more than that.
A good friend of mine almost lost her son to a heart attack after drinking a six pack of these drinks. He's 13,
What I don't understand is why the market isn't either putting a ban on these drinks, educating parents on the dangers related to them; or making them only available to those 18 and older.
The market is flooded with them and every time you walk into a gas station..the coolers are filled with Red Bull, Monster Energy, Full Throttle, Rock Star, Amp Energy, etc. I haven't seen a checkout yet that hasn't offered 5-Hour Energy sitting right there for a kid to grab.
They don't require an ID, yet I've seen kids walk out of our local gas station with two six packs of one of these products. They drink they like water.
With all the things about healthy drinking and eating are all over the net..not one person has attacked the energy drinks some of our children are drinking..and in the meantime, there are children that are literally suffering from anxiety and heart issues because of these high energy drinks.
Below is an interesting article parents may want to pay attention to. I know I did..and since reading it..my kids no longer have access to them.

While we as parents can't do a lot about our children buying these killers..does anyone have any suggestions as to how we can either get them off the market; or put an age restriction on them?
Thanks so much in advance for your opinions!!

My daughter doesn't drink these drinks but I do. I once went up to my local shop and because I had my other children in the car with me I asked my daughter to go in the shop and get me one so I didn't have to get all the children out of the car. The shop keeper refused to sell my daughter the drink and said she was under age. She was 12 at the time. I thought there was a restriction on these drinks because of this. I do agree that children should not be drinking these, they have made me ill in the past by drinking to many. I only have one now and again.
