Energy levels at an all time low...

Hi, I've been struggling with my energy for a couple years now, have been to see doctors, naturopaths, Ayurvedic docters, the works - no one can seem to figure out what's wrong. My B12 is fine, my iron is ok, but my energy is at an all time low. Now I can't even get up a flight of stairs, my legs ache so badly and I feel so heavy. I wake up feeling hungover but I never drink. I get exhausted and can't think by about 2pm. Sometimes my legs ache at night. I get ulcers on the back of my tongue... I dunno, I'm at my wits end about it - I'm only 33!!! Feel like an old woman. Anyone have anything similar???

Vitamin D deficiency can cause similar symptoms, so it is worth discounting it as a possibility. It is only recently that people seem to be becoming aware of the problem of vit D deficiency for some unknown reason.

My friend, a Nastya had been suffering from the desperate loss of energy for some years. i advived her to see a doctor who cured my father from spinal hernia. That doctor is rather a medicine man a follower of classical Chinise school but he got european medical education as well. The basic treatment he applied to Nastya was as follows: he took a considerable ammount of blood from Nastya's rear side of foot and injected it into the vein on the inner bend of the elbow. I'm absolutely unaware of the mechanisms involved in this procedure but after a week of injections she felt much better

Anasuya, I have to agree with Ptolemy on the Vitamin D, if you have not yet had it tested. I have been through years of similar symptoms, was eventually diagnosed with the catch-all rubbish dump diagnosis of fibromyalgia ('we don't know what it is and won't investigate further' ), before being diagnosed by a new doctor with vitamin D deficiency in February this year.

I have had constant pain in my joints and ribs, fatigue, weakness and terrible brain-fog.

You mention Ayurveda - do you have South Asian ancestry? I ask because those with darker skin tones are very susceptible to vitamin D deficiency and the problems that go with it.

Do ask for a simple blood test of your vitamin D levels (and maybe your thyroid profile?).

It has taken several months of high dose vitamin D supplements, but last month I finally turned a corner after believing that I never would never shake the pain and the fatigue! So I am wishing you all the best and hoping that it turns out to be something as easily corrected as D deficiency.

    :-)

Hi Jaybelle, I'm a kiwi born and bred, slightly olive complexion but not dark. I had my thyroid checked when I had my bloods done by the last doctor who was guessing away, but not my vit D as far as I know. They did check for a few things but I don't remember hearing that mentioned, will get onto it immediately. Brainfog I can really relate to! Thanks for the advice. smile
