ENT referral

Husband is having MRI scan on Tuesday.  Not entirely happy with GP so if nothing shows on MRI, I would like to be referred to specialist.  Live in North West England between Liverpool and Manchester.  Can anyone suggest anyone, who specialises or has understanding of MD or related diseases?  Or what type of specialist ie speciality within ENT.

Thanks in advance

Hello, my experience at Salford Royal F T was positive where I saw a skull based surgeon. they work with Central Manchester F T where I was seen by in their audiology department for the usual tests and balance exercises.

Prior to the above I was seen by an ENT consultant at another hospital who 'abalated my cochlea' which worked but took a long time. The experience at Salford was at another level they seemed to have greater knowledge, experience and skills. Whilst I did not need skull based surgery investigation was thorough. Also they encouraged questions and responded well to challenge.

hope 'this helps and good luck.

Hi Kilikaz.  When you search for an ENT ask if the doctor specializes in inner ear diseases.  Most ENT are general ear/nose/throat doctors with good background in all of these areas but I think you want an ENT with sub specialized training in the inner ear.  I do not live in England and can not give you specific doctor but I recommend you contact a University hospital affiliated with a medical school.  They should be able to point you in the right direction.  Best of luck and let us kow if you have more concerns/questions.
