Epididimo-Orchitis - help....

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hi Im a late 30's man with what doctors think is epididymo-orchitis. I presented at GP's with acute tenderness R/Testicle which as the day went on spread up my groin to my back. Was sent to A&E Dept had Ultrasound of Scrotum and Kidneys and Xray of Kidneys also.

Docs gave me Doxycycline 100 and Ciproflaxacin 500 together. Its day 6 on antibiotics and apart from feeling particularly grim from the medication I still have swelling on RTesticle with pain radiating into stomach. Beginning to think there is something sinister going on. Torsion was ruled out. Anyone any advice it would be GREATLY appreciated (I have anxiety disorder and its really not helping the problem) Thanks in advance. Charlie

Hi Charlie, I've had this condition when I was about your age. I'm 56 now. It is of course worrying to have something wrong in such a delicate area. Anyway, I was given a strong dose of anti-biotics by my GP and they did not work. I then was sent for a scan and saw a specialist at the hospital. He reassured me that it wasnt anything really sinister and gave me a different anti-biotic, just from memory I think it may have been Oxytetracyclin-this did the trick. Resting helps a great deal as well whilst on these tablets.

The symptoms you describe do seem to echo the ones I experienced. All being well the tablets you are on will be effective. I would agree with you the symptoms are very unpleasant and the tablets do tend to make you feel rough whilst they fight the infection. Remember, if you can take things easy for a while it will help. Hope my comments have helped. Best Wishes.

Hi Donnie, thank u so much for your kind words. Its really good to know that you got through it and its not "sinister" and while yes it is rough and feeling weak and a bit crap most of the time is tough, hopefully this dose of antibiotics and rest will do the trick. Thanks again and I wish you good health.
