They're an antibiotic, used to treat certain infections and are proven to be quite effective.

I've personally just finished a 2 week course of them and had no side effects, just be aware that you really should not drink at all whilst taking them.

I can't say if they're good or not personally because I believe was basically given them to rule out epididymitis whilst I wait for an ultrasound and as such I don't believe they helped me. I've had 3 blood tests now and all 3 have come back with normal results (white blood cells, etc)

I had epididymo-orchitis before, suspected to be caused by chlamydia and was given clarithromycin, which worked wonders took my pain from 10/10 (worst pain in my life) to a 4/10 within like 24 hours - the only problem is that after about 30 minutes of taking them all I could taste for the next 3-4 hours was soap (their most common side effect, strange after taste or altered taste).

Hopefully the doxycycline help you out mate, wishing you a speedy recovery.

Thanks for the reply i have had this years but last 4 weeks had some pain not really bad though and some pain going up my groin and down my leg, it hurt more yesterday after the doctors was pressing on them in the end i swore at him and told him to stop. But today the pain is normal about 2 out of 10 so not sure if it's in infection or not ? plus it comes and goes all the time some days hardly any pain, i also have a Epididymitis cycst one of them.

I am waiting for a ultra sound scan again 3rd one so might wait until i have had that then maybe take the tablets.
