Epididymitis Pain and Discomfort!

Posted , 2 users are following.

I have had Epididymitis in my left testicle and lower groin since March after I had a colonoscopy. In August I was put on antibiotics on 2 separate occasions. I had a ultrasound which was normal, blood test was normal and urine sample was clear. My GP has put me on Amitriptyline for the pain it has helped a little.

Saw Urologist last week who confirmed that I have Epididymitis.

One last thing I must mention is that I haven't had any sexual contact for just over 5 years.

I am seeing my GP tomorrow. Can anyone give some advice on what I should ask him?

One thing I question is how did they determine Epididymitis if ultrasound is normal A good radiologist should have picked that up and would show up on imaging. Also strange this started after a colonoscopy.

Maybe get a second opinion? Have they ruled out anything else in the groin. Maybe have a MRI?

The first 2 ultrasounds I had, done by 2 different hospitals, diagnosed me hydroceles and everyone told me, oh "your fine", "you should not have any pain". I am on hospital #4 in a big city and after MRI, discovered a 4mm cyst in Epididymitis ,moderate bilateral varioceles and moderate bilateral Epididymitis with tissue damage . And over the 2 yr period, have been misdiagnosed over and over again, with things like UTIs, STD, over active bladder, prostatitis, enlarged prostate, which were all wrong. On this long journey, finding that "men's sexual health" is something many are not well educated in. So keep pushing until you get satisfactory results.

Thanks for the reply. I had a PSA blood test which was normal. The ultrasound found nothing sinister in my groin. UTI lab test came back normal.
