Epididymitis test

I had a examination today regarding swollen testicle, the Dr was very thorough and also took a urine sample.She also asked about ejaculation and sperm, like do i have blood in my sperm, does it hurt to ejaculate.I could not answer these questions as it had been a while since i had an ejaculation, so she said she wanted to see me in 2 days to discuss test results, to see how the antibiotics are doing and she wanted me to have ejaculation by then with a sperm sample or i could do it at the surgery when i see her and the nurse could help with the collection of the sample (not with the act of it).

My question is, is the normal procedure?
