Epigastric hernia

I have been diagnosed with a small epigastric hernia which can give me some discomfort.I have been offered the chance to have it repaired in Oct but ideally my consultant would like me to lose weight and get it done in about 12-18 months.I have been overweight for a long time and i feel that i want to get the op over and done with.I had an umbilical hernia repaired 2 years ago which went ok and i know that this should be the same sort of recovery.I also have a hiatus hernia and i am not very active as i have a problem with my knee.Do you agree that i should get it repaired now?
