Epigastric pain for 7 months now any ideas?

Hi all,

My story is long but i will keep it as short as i can.

33 Male 100kg

in February i started with a constant dull RUQ ache just around the bottom ribs. this went on for 7 weeks and in April i had an endoscopy which found mild ulcerative oesophagitis and a small hiatus hernia. Also had a colonoscopy which found 1 x small polyp which was removed.

The pain continued and in late April i had an ultrasound and a CT both of which showed no problems at all.

My GP wrote it off as gerd. I have been taking rabeprazole 20mg daily since April.

Since then my stools have become yellow/orange and sometimes they float. The pain has also moved more towards the centre of my abdomen just below the sternum and im having 3-5 bowel movements per day.

To be honest i'm worried its a problem with my pancreas and at this point i'm praying its just an inactive/overactive gallbladder causing my issues as at least that means i'm not dying of some terrible cancer.

Im now booked in for an MRCP scan after nagging my GP for 4 months and also have been reffered to a gastroenterologist.

Has anyone here experienced similar in relation to a bad gallbladder? or am i just hoping for something that cant be?.

Not sure if it means anything but ive put weight on during this time and most people seem to lose weight.

Cheers.

    Hi,

I have the same problem. Upper right epigastric pain with all tests coming back normal. I've had this pain twice before but it went away. This time it is persisting. My GP thinks it's my gallbladder and I might need it out but they are not performing any gallbladder removals at the moment because of Covid. My last GP thought it was all in the mind and due to nerves!

Thank you for your reply. i finally managed to see my gastroenterologist yesterday. she has given me 2 mri referrals. one is mrcp and one is mr enterography. Im crossing my fingers that its not going to show anything deadly. my life is in ruins after this past 7 months.

I fogot to say that I do have gallstones so I am hoping that my symptoms are as a result of a bad gallbladder. i hope you get your issues sorted.

Hi - Did you ever get the results of your MRCP? I have been having similar issues for the past few months and have had all the tests done which seem to come back normal. At this point I'm hoping to get an endoscopic ultrasound done as I worry about my pancreas as well. I hope you are feeling better.
