Equivalence of 'Zyban' (Buproprion 150 SR).

Hi I'm in NZ where Buproprion (which is primarily used to treat MDD and/or SAD, (which I use it for), is only marketed and sold as 'Zyban', to stop smoking. It is still Brupropion, but I can't quite get my head around it and wonder if there is a different formulation, here in NZ if anyone knows. I understand that the first formulation of it for SAD was as "Wellbutrin 300 XL" and I would prefer this extended release variety if I can get it somehow. Anyone have any ideas or experience of Bupropion in different forms when used for SAD? Thanks

This seems to be used to replace nicotine dependence, SAD, sometimes for Mental Health Concerns. Also it can be used for Herpes Simplex.

If you tap up ihe drug name in Search RHS of this page there are quite a few inclusions on this medication.

You can also try using the NHS Choices web site, enter the names of your medication in the A/Z Medications section. They may be able to confirm if you can get the Extended Release version.

You need to understand however yes these drugs are mentioned in the UK however I cannot advise how the medications are prescribed, or their use in NZ.

You may try drug explanations on your Web Provider, hopefully there should be pages that are mentioned for the NZ, MIMMS
