ESA home assesment

i had an esa assesment in edinburgh and for months never had a decision despite repeated calls to dwp. eventuslly i told they had sent the report back to the company that do assesements and was given a number to call them. i called and they finally told me mistakes had made and they needed a new report done. i asked why this hadnt been communicated to me and they apologised. A week later i received a letter saying they had arranged a home asssesment as a gesture of goodwill. I am very nervous. Has anyone got experience of this
they wouldnt tell me what mistakes were in the report.
btw this is decide if i should get ESA or not and to put me in a group
Thanks

That's absolutely disgusting, cant wait for Denise to come and comment, i wouldn't have thought it wouldn't be allowed, its not your fault they haven't done their job properly, it doesn't sound credible
Try not to worry about it too much, easy said

Just to clarify, the work capability assessment (WCA) is to determine whether you are capable to work or not. You'll be asked how your condition affects your ability to do several tasks (recognising a danger or hazard, ability to follow simple instructions, ability to socialise and communicate, etc.). The answers will be scored and the score will determine not just whether you get ESA, but which group you are put in.
As for mistakes, difficult to say. Most likely the person who originally assessed you messed up somehow.

Hi,
It is very rare that this happens, if it was me then i'd be wanting answers as to what mistakes were made and why another face to face assessment is needed. You are within your rights to have answers to this. I would have contacted my local MP long ago!
Anyway, during the assessment you'll be assessed on your ability to do any type of job. ESA is about the work you can do, rather than the work you can't do. Being placed into the Support Group isn't about scoring points, it's about satisfying at least one of the Support Group descriptors or reg 35 which is special circumstances.
WRAG is about scoring points and you need 15 points for this group or reg 29 which again is special circumstances. Both descriptors for the groups are available on google search but links can't be posted here.
About a week after the assessment ring DWP to ask for a copy of the assessment report. This will give you some idea what the decision is likely to be because they mostly go with the report. If you do ask for the report and you don't understand the words/phrases used please just give me a shout and i'll happily help you understand what it means.
Good luck!!
