Escitalopram/Citalopram

Hello everyone, I'm sure this question has been asked hundreds of times, and it's simply are escitalopram and citalopram EXACTLY the same. By that I mean if I was on Cit (which I have been for several years but now on sertraline) and I switched to Escit would I feel the same?. I ask this as a friend of mine is on Escit and she says it's fantastic for her and different to Cit, but there are many pages on the net that say although they are slightly different the effect is exactly the same. Many thanks and any replies would be gratefully ape recited... Luke

Thank you Kate, I asked my psych if I could try them as they say Cit is best for depression and Escit is better for anxiety which is my main problem but my psych told me on Thursday that they're the same. I'm on sertraline and pregabalin and I'm steadily getting worse. Thanks for replying x
