Escitalopram Withdrawal

Hi Everyone.

I just want to say to be careful when reading comments on

these pages as someone is much more likely to post if they are struggling

rather than feeling better. So, for that reason, here is a happy story.

I am currently down to 1.25mg of Escitalopram after a long

taper and apart from the odd zap and tripped out feeling, I feel amazing. Ok,

so Paddington 2 made me cry much more than it should of a 44 year old man but

hey, these were happy tears. Aunt Lucy!

There is always someone who will tell you that things are

still bad after years but this is most likely because they are still depressed

and struggling regardless of the withdrawal. One thing to remember is that the

drug basically keeps a pool of serotonin in your brain to dip into as and when

a swim is required. When you come off the drug your brain has to learn to

create the neurotransmitter itself and completely malfunctions. Those of use

that work with computers will understand this term "malfunction" all

too well. This will pass. I don’t slag the drug off as I certainly needed it

when I was in a hole but don’t be frightened when it is time to come off it.

I know I will have days that are going to feel like the

world has changed somehow and all is dark but I'm pretty confident that it is

my perception and not the world that has changed in these instances.

Humour is everything. Nothing has to be serious really.

After all, we are all just riding on this spinning orb for a short time. I'm

talking cat videos, people falling over, Lee Evans the lot!

You are amazing. You fought through millions of tadpoles to

get onto this plane so enjoy it. So what if you feel trippy or sad. This feeling

is transient.

Keep love alive - It is everything.

Big Gigantic love
