Escitalopram Withdrawal

Posted , 2 users are following.

hello!

i had a panic attack 8 weeks ago and my doc threw me first on Citalopram for 12 days, then i switched to Escitalopram for 5 more weeks. i was having a HORRIBLE time and i couldnt tolerate the side effects any longer. i was on 10mg then weaned to 5mg over a week, then stopped. i didnt tell my doc because he seemed uninterested.

im currently into my 3rd week of "withdrawal" or discontinuation syndrome, bad brain fog and its hard to remember things or concentrate. although the physical symptoms arent as bad, im still feeling inner torment and emotional distress. i feel so sad and hopeless.

any advice would help or finding someone to relate to would be great

    Hi Kim,

I'm really sorry you've been experiencing this. I'm actually going through a really similar situation right now where the withdrawal effects from lexapro are causing me so much emotional turmoil and it feels unbearable.

It's possible that you weaned off too quickly. Maybe it would help to go back on a low dose (5 mg or 2.5 mg) for a week or so, or until you feel more stable?

I'm not sure how helpful that is but I hope you know you're not alone. We will get through this together. Also, any updates on how you're doing now?
