Hi Judy, im on 15 mg at the moment. I am suppose to be on 20mg but it's taken me a year just to get to 15mg.
It works well for my panic attacks and some of my anxiety but I too have lack of motivation and general lethargy.
I find it hard to remember things and because I paint, it has really impacted on my creativity.
I don't feel like the same person at all. I've stuck with it because it's so nice not to be in constant panic mode that I'm scared to change meds again.
I was taken off Mirtazapine, cold turkey to go on escitalopram so have had a really terrible 12 months...this is the best I've been all year.
I also feel buzzy in the head with a tightness across the back of my head, particularly at night and terrible insomnia.
It seems to take me a long time for the initial side effects from upping the dose to settle down too.
I was so hoping this drug was good as they say it has the least side effects etc.. but I'm not so sure.
Regards,
Gina

I've had just a bit of lethargy on escitalopram, but I'm guessing once the 10 mg I started 6 days ago starts to kick in, I will probably get more lethargic and unmotivated.
?I was on 40 mg of citalopram previous to switching to escitalopram, and I definitely had lethargy on that. I ended up gaining 40 pounds. Like Andrew, once I got up and moving, I was okay. It was just the initial push to get going.
?I actually don't mind the lethargy that much, because then I sleep better at night. The weight gain was bothersome, though.

I am on the generic of lexapro 10mg for 3 months. In the beginning lost weight. Now I gained it all back and then some. 40 lbs total. I have no motivation to go to gym (not like me). My appetite craves carbs and I have two glasses of wine everyday.
No motivation at all. I just retired 6 months ago. I am bored; no motivation and fat. Yet don't have anxiety or panic attacks. I don't know what to do. Can anyone help? I need some opinions PLEASE!!!

Hi Judy,I was also unmotivated and scared to do new things but after about 12 weeks it gets better.give it more time, find people to be around maybe volunteering will help exercise helps.Everyone is different so it might just take a longer time or increasing your dose with your doctors instructions. Morning anxiety is sometimes still with me but usually clears in the afternoon.Good Luck to you😀
