Escitralopram - Upset tummy normal?

Posted , 2 users are following.

Hi all - I'm almost 6 weeks into escitralopram (15mg) which im taking last thing on a night. I'm still finding that I have quite an upset stomach especially first thing on a morning. Is it normal to still be getting side effects at this stage?

    Lucy,

Upset stomachs are quite a common start-up effect of many medications. They should pass within the usual period of 6-8 weeks, but some times they do not and this simply means that the drug is not for you. This happened to me with Cymbalta (not a nice drug for withdrawal btw).

However, before you reach this conclusion, have you considered any other medication/vitamins etc you may be taking that could cause an interaction? Are you taking it on an empty stomach? If so, trying taking it with food...
