Hi Wendy02353, I had the surgery in 2014 and it went well until about 6 month later when it started coming undone. I had the surgery in 2015 for the second time by an awesome doctor. It has been 2 1/2 years and I know longer have to take heartburn medicine. It is wonderful. I had heartburn for over 20 years and it turned into Barrett's esophagus. It was so bad at night that I would get sick and it felt like battery acid in my throat. I couldn't get my breath and I actually felt like I wanted to die. The surgery saved me and I hope the same for you.

Wendy--- my hiatal hernia was 1/3 of my stomach.  Very large.  I could vomit at random.  I had the surgery Aug 29th.  I had a Cardiothorapist do the surgery--- not a Gastrologist.   I had 5 tiny (size of dime) incisions that were glued together.  Never had acid reflex since surgery.  No pain at all.  Only problem I have had is diarrhea.  It is controllable with Kaopectate.  Doctors say that since mine was so bad for over 20 years, my stomach and intestines are adjusting.  I had the "lynx surgery--- faster recovery time and a lot less stomach stitches.  No regrets.   PS:  I decided to finally have mine because the acid reflex can wear down lining around the esophagus and cause cancer.  I have seen that happen to friends (who fought having the surgery).
