Essential Hypertension at age 25

Hello,

Around 2 years ago my high blood pressure was detected.

Numbers were all over the place. 150/90s would be on a good day for me. Could spike up to 190s/110s when nervous. But generally my range was 150-170/90-110 I would say.

I am on 5mg amlodipine and 2.5mg ramipril.

My numbers are now around 130s/80s consistently.

I know some of you will tell me for my age it is too high, but I personally don't see any benefit of going on higher doses to lower the blood pressure further when my numbers are not in a dangerous range anymore.

Is essential hypertension truly possible my age?

I am healthy, do not smoke, only socially drink, exercise, eat well.

All tests including aldestrone and renal have come back as normal.

My kidneys were normal and had no damage after a scan (even before meds).

I do suspect I have a low level of sleep apnea but doctors are not convinced it would be causing my blood pressure to shoot as high as it did.

Could my high blood pressure truly be hereditary and no other cause or is this unlikely at my age?

I do not think so in your case. I think blood pressure naturally is born from eating habits, exercise or lack of it, and brain function and stress levels.
