ESTRING ADVICE NEEDED

Posted , 6 users are following.

Been to see a female gynaecologist today for a second opinion on my vulva/vagina burning and sore all the time. She was very understanding and listened to me. She told me not to use the Dermol lotion and Betnovate ointment that my GP had prescribed.

She is writing to my GP regards Estring which she believes will benefit me more than Vagifem I am currently using. She is also going to ask the GP to prescribe low dose Amitripyline for my vulva burning which she said will calm the nerve endings causing the burning.

Any advice regards Estring and Amitripyline really appreciated.

Hi Lynn... there are a couple of forums on here that will interest you.Have a look in the index for Vaginal Atrophy and one for Mona Lisa Touch.Lots of comments from us fellow sufferers.. The estring is another way of administering oestrogen ...a ring rather than a pessary . I had Vagifem and that didn't work for me. I was prescribed Timodine for the sore areas on the labia which really helped. I've had VA for nearly 3 years and have tried absolutely everything in the book and on the internet!!! I started the Mona Lisa Touch 2 months ago and due for my last treatment in 2 weeks time. I am so very happy as this has worked for me AND with another treatment to go... I'm almost back to how I was. I would certainly recommend it BUT you have to do lots of research and find the right clinic..it's private...and doctor. This is all extremely important as there are a few cowboys out there unfortunately. The MLT is the only laser procedure recognised by The Medical Board for helping VA.I am in the UK and travel 400 miles but have found the best clinic and doctor who has been practicing the procedure since it was introduced into the UK. I have the inside treated and also the outside..labia/vulva. It is painless ..you just feel a slight vibration on the inside. The outside will have numbing cream applied as this is where the nerve endings are as you know. It is left on for 15 mins and wiped off..and then that area is totally painless. Your doctor who is treating you will explain where you should be treated. If numbing cream for the outside is not automatically used...I wouldn't go ahead. It took me a long time to get where I am today as it is such a taboo subject but we all need to be open and talk about this horrendous condition. Mine was brought on by a very early menapause and being ignorant to alot of things. Good Luck.
