Estriol cream - mtnce dose? 2 x a week or 3?

Posted , 3 users are following.

I have been doing 3 but when I actually checked the directions...it said 2 x a week is the advisable maintenance regime recommended.

Also, when we leave that "pea shaped" amount by the vagina - do you insert it a bit or just leave it at the outside entrance?

Thanks! Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi, to be honest it's so low in oestrogen, it doesn't matter. Whichever feels best for you. Twice a week equals one hrt tablet a year. Because it's topical, you don't need much. The pea shaped amount left, just rub it all around your vulva, that needs Oestrogen as well.

I was a year ago told to use a little every night for the AV. I typically take a few nights off though because it can cause soreness. Recently I've begun alternating with the yin oil which has an olive oil base with Chinese herbs that mimic estrogen (I believe).

I believe I was told to put it at the vag entrance, though I do sometimes spread it around a bit. Depends if it is a night I'm applying the steroid. I assume you would absorb the most through the mucous membrane of the vagina. As it has had a positive effect on the AV I guess what I'm doing is suitable...enough. Gyn always says things look good.

Basically the impression I have gotten is our needs probably aren't textbook so I should do whatever works for me (so long as it isn't overdoing something stronger like the steroid). Also the area isn't as estrogen starved as it was initially so easing off a bit is probably fine.

Yikes! "It was a year ago that I was told..." typing not my forte.
