Estrogen

I'd love to know if anyone with fibro has used estrogen/HRT and how it affected thier fibro.

I have a hormone tracker which I look at when I'm feeling particularly bad or having a good day and nearly every time I'm in agony it says either my estrogen is low or my progesterone is high or a combo of both. On good days usually is when the estrogen is at its highest. I found this rather interesting and wondered if anyone has been on estrogen based hormones and if thier pain improved.

    That's really interesting!!

I was on HRT before being diagnosed with Fibro.  I had the overall pain and fatigue all the time, but symtoms got worse 10 days before my periods.  I was perimenopausal and when I was put on HRT i did feel better for about a year. Eventually, the pain and fatigue started to become more of an everyday thing and I was found to have fibroids.  I had a hysterectomy and I am on estrogen only patches. Now that I think about it, I think the estrogen does help abit with my pain levels -  they are only very bad when I overdo things.

Can I ask where you got your hormone tracker from?

Hiya, its a free app called hormone horoscope lite on the iphone apps and probably andriod too, its free although you can upgrade for about £2 to get more functionality. It does state that its to be used by people who are still having periods and have normal menstrual cycles, so its not supposed to be accurate for post menapouase or people using birth control but its still interesting to have a look at though especially if you remember what times of the month you used to hurt the worst.

Hi. Yeah I tried a cream for a few months it has progesterone and oestrogen in it

And yes it did work but now that I'm 2 yrs down the line post menopause I feel it's not working the same. But

Yes give it a go. I have fibro, post menopause and hypothyroidism. So

You can imagine how hard it is for me just now to get a right balance. Comeback to feeling tired and achey all the time.

    Take care!

Hi Charlotte;   Yes, I use Hormone replacement Pessaries (maybe one a fortnight, and aged 58).......and I think as others do,  they may be correct in thinking that it helps us.  I still need my medcations, but don't find the pain as bad as it has been in the past.   I too am having problems with my thyroid (up and down levels), but feel that things arn't as bad as perhaps 12 months ago.......so who knows???......    If you trial hormone replacement and find it helps do let us know, as it is good to know what helps and what doesn't..............Bron
