Etd ?

7 weeks ago I noticed my hearing was muffled. Soon I started feeling pressure in both ears , mild pain and huge discomfort. Then my nose started being blocked and finally my throat became sore on the right side. The pressure can be very strong around my cheeks and nose too. Sometimes I feel like my throat and mouth is full of mucus and the right tonsil is slightly swollen and very painful. I have visited numerous doctors ( never an ENT so far ) and they keep sending me away saying that it is just an etd and that it takes months to resolve. I have also been suffering from reflux for decades. Can this be related ? It is driving my crazy and I am almost depressed.

    Hi there,

Reflux wouldn't be associated with Eustachian Tube Dysfunctional, that's an entirely different problem, but MUST NOT be ignored, the reflux I mean, as that can turn nasty if not treated.  As for your ear situation ask your doctor for some Flixonase Steroid Nasal Spray.  Everyone on here that is suffering the same I tell them that what has helped me.  Over a period of time it should unblock your ears.

    Good Luck

Continued.  It sounds as though you could have a sinus infection, which has caused congestion.  Also ask for some antibiotics.  See my other reply.

Manjubamb,Try not to get depressed because it definitely won't help any medical condition you have.Don't hang about---go & see an ENT specialist at once.Ten years

ago I had chemotherapy & radiation & found that I had mucous which persisted for several months & finally subsided. The doctors seem to sidestep answering direct queries & trot out the usual platitudes such as the aging process & the side effects of the aforesaid treatments.Above all,DON'T IGNORE IT
