ETD Cleared up

I was diagnosed with eustacian tube dysfunction about 3 weeks ago after a bout of swine flu. I found the ETD was more of a problem than the initial flu! Deafness in my left ear along with dizziness and hearing myself speak had me so worried i started to panic. I searched the internet for information about ETD and other peoples experiences. I came across a woman on you tube who used a 'neti pot' to clear her sinus and her eustacian tube. She said it worked, so i bought one from amazon for £18.00 and it worked for me too! i was a bit nervous about pouring water up my nose at first but found it wasn't that bad at all. A few hours after using the neti pot i blew some gunk out of my nose and the following morning my hearing was back to normal.... Happy Dayssmilesmilesmilesmile

that sounds so much like what I have been experiance for a long long time now! The deafness comes and goes depending on how blocked my nose feels, the dizzness spells. Many thanks for this I may have to get me self one of those things :D

My ETD cleared in one ear, had a week of good hearing, then my other ear has just recently blocked. taking sudafed tablets but I'm considering this neti pot. I'ts popped up a few time's in my etd research. Also salt water down your nose worked for some other guy. Sounded kinda cooky but I might consider it now.

The use of salt cleanses the nostrils of impurities including pollen. The nose is a natural filter of air as it enters the body. There is a relationship between nasal congestion and Eustachian Tube problems. Any inflammation in the nostril/sinuses can obstruct the natural air flow which will cause Eustachian Tube dysfunction.Inflammation in the nose/sinuses can spread into the Eustachian Tube.

Salt is unlikely to gave a significant direct influence on the Eustachian Tube.
