ETD? Ménières? Help

Hey, I’m back. I just can’t get this off my mind. Ive slept for the past 2 days because I’m so sad and I feel like I’m going insane.  I got an appointment for next Thursday with an ENT and that also freaks me out because I’m terrified of doctors.

I wanted to share my symptoms again and maybe hear from others that have these things wrong with them and maybe tell me what they think, if our symptoms link up.

My symptoms:

• Buzzing/Rumbling Tinnitus

• My Tinnitus is also not 24/7 its here and there

• Vertigo attack’s for a couple seconds (and I never notice a change or increase with my Tinnitus when attacks happen)

• Imbalanced, “on a boat” feeling most of the time

• Feeling like hearing in my right ear is muffled (been like that for awhile so I’m used to it at this point)

• Crackling/Popping sounds everytime I swallow or yawn (in both ears usually)

• Doctor said my eardrum looked dull

•  Nasacort did help when doctor prescribed me it

• Was better for awhile, but recently got a cold and all hell broke loose

I’ll keep you guys updated on what the doctors say next Thursday. Hope to god it’s nothing too crazy. I’m freaking out.

Hello again Sidney,  Have you suggested to your doctor that you may have the Menieres Virus.  Try not to panic, if this is the case it will go.  You'll need some tablets that will stop the vertigo.  My friend suffered this really badly a few years ago, the dizziness was so bad she actually fell over.  Middle ear infection can cause this too.

This is a very common complaint so do try not to stress as that makes matters so much worse.  Easy to say, but not easy to do when you're so worried.

    Keep us informed

Hi Sydney i seem to have same problem as you. I even offered to pay to see an ENT specialist but my GP insists i have to go to audiology first. Thing is i have. very good hearing. I have a permanent high pitched frequency buzz in my ears which is driving me crazy. Apparently the first step is audiology and if they can't help then its ENT. My app is January 12. Hope i don't go crazy before then. Please don't be frightened of doctors. Hopefully they will help you. Best of luck. Jill

Sounds like what I went through when I had Menieres years ago.  The ENT doc finally did something to deaden one side and at least I did not get sick all the time.  Bad news, they say 90% will not lose hearing on both sides! I am one of the 10% who did and now have severe hearing loss, but at least no sick and dizzy all the time.  About the only thing you can do when sick is go to a quiet dark room and rest.   Best of luck -
