Hi everyone,

I was told I have ETD, my right ear clogged every day for a few hours. I'm suffering from this for almost a year. It started just one they with clogged ear and like a long beep. I got a lot of allergy tablets and some allergy nosespray(mometason) and they kind of help but not all day. (I have to take them unless I have not only clogged ear but also whistle in my ear and its really annoying) I had a lot of visits by every kind of doctors and they can not really tell me why I have this and what should I do. Is it possible to heal from this? I had 2 allergy tests and none of them showed anything. Any suggestion? Thank you

Were the allergy tests by blood or skin?  I had blood testing and it showed one allergy to dogs.  I had skin testing done two separate times and I was allergic to 38 of 50 substances tested for.

I am currently taking allergy shots, allergy medications and physical therapy for TMJ and splint therapy.  I am a LOT better than when this nightmare first started back at the beginning of January.

I had tests by blood, do you think it is worth to have one by skin? Sorry but i dont know what a splint therapy is, can you tell me?

Yes, I would ask for skin testing.  My allergist told me blood testing isn't accurate and only does skin testing.  That was true for me since blood testing didn't show anything but dogs.

Splint therapy is wearing a fitted plastic-like mouth piece over your teeth every night and part time during the day.  I've been wearing a top splint but my new orofacial pain doctor prefers bottom splints so I get to have a new one made!  YAY!  ugh  I have a horrible gag reflex and making impressions is an awful experience for me.

If my ears get really bad I can put in that splint and feel a difference so that is part of the TMJ component.  Today I forgot my allergy pill and allergy nasal spray.  I was wondering why my ears were acting up.  So I have two different things going on with allergies and TMJ.

Now I am being evaluated for trigeminal neuralgia which is an entirely different problem and known as the most painful condition known to human kind.   I don't know why all of this keeps happening to me.  sad

Hi Ann, Sorry, its not so good to hear, that you have also such a problems. I just don't understand why this happens now? I havent had a problem for 28 years and now I have a clogged ear out of the blue. Every doctor says that I have probably an allergy and I have to take now a lot of allergy pills and Dymista nose spray but the whole problem is still remained and I have no other symtoms for allergy. This is normal? I have a few friends with allergy and they sneeze a lot and have a lot of other symptoms and what I have? Clogged ear..it sounds so weird. In Hungary there is no forum like this so I just think only I have here this problem. I am not the same person since I have this and I really want to solve it.
